Open Eye

Open Eye is an Open Source project that will fill the gap for process digitalization, mainly within IT organizations or corporations that intend to implement ITIL v3 processes in general. Open Eye is classified as a BPM-tool (Business Process Management) and compete with commercial products in the market. Very simplified, Open Eye can be described as a process engine with an integration tool. Systems, information and processes are linked to each other by Open Eye´s process management and integration.

The reason to our focus on Open Eye is partly because the lack of process management within internal IT organizations and partly that the internal IT organizations tend to procure software tools mainly based on function specification. This applies regardless if IT operations and/or IT development is outsourced or not. There is a best of breed strategy, when choosing different software tools for specific purposes.
According to our point of view there is a huge efficiency potential and cost savings by instead focus on a more process oriented work flow.

Our conviction is that the main responsibilities within an IT organization, when supporting business operations with new or enhanced IT solutions, are as follows:

  • IT Cost Control
  • Time to Market
  • Risk Management

Above is not accomplished by focusing on making different areas of responsibilities or their IT tool more efficient. It is necessary to instead make the end-to-end processes flow efficient or link different processes to each other.
