I ett f\u00f6rs\u00f6k att hantera b\u00e5da dimensionerna samtidigt, utses ibland s.k. process\u00e4gare, som f\u00e5r till uppgift att styra de tv\u00e4rfunktionella fl\u00f6dena genom de olika organisatoriska delarna. Men dessa process\u00e4gare har s\u00e4llan n\u00e5gon formell makt. Cheferna i linjeorganisationen \u00e4ger fortfarande personalen, s\u00e4tter l\u00f6n, befordrar individer, etc. I ljuset av detta \u00e4r det l\u00e4tt att inse vem som drar det kortaste str\u00e5et vid en eventuell mots\u00e4ttning mellan tv\u00e4rfunktionell process och linje.<\/p>\n<p>F\u00f6r att verkligen kunna styra tv\u00e4rfunktionella fl\u00f6den, s\u00e5 m\u00e5ste man b\u00f6rja fr\u00e5n toppen. Organisationens viktigaste fl\u00f6den, t.ex. produktutveckling och \u201dorder to cash\u201d, m\u00e5ste ha en tydlig \u00e4gare h\u00f6gst uppe i ledningen som styr dessa processer genom hela organisationen. Dessutom m\u00e5ste tydliga ansvar pekas ut f\u00f6r viktiga fr\u00e5gest\u00e4llningar i sk\u00e4rningspunkten mellan linje och tv\u00e4rfunktionellt fl\u00f6de.
